Elseweb: finding personal blogs

I use RSS and read a lot online. What I enjoy most is reading people’s opinions, experiences, and ideas on their own blogs. Finding those blogs has always been the hard part.

Too often, I find content written to sell something or rank in search results. I wanted an easier way to find people writing because they have something to share.

So I built Elseweb, a small project I’d wanted to make for a long time.

It works a little like an RSS reader, but you don’t build your own list of feeds. Readers suggest sites, and I review them before adding them. The focus is on personal blogs and independent publishers.

Once a site is accepted, Elseweb picks up new posts through its feeds. Jev assigns categories to articles. When there’s no publisher description, Gemini creates a short summary. You choose your interests, and your personal feed shows matching articles.

Elseweb shows titles and short descriptions, not full articles. Clicking an article takes you to the original website. I want to help readers find writers and send those writers visitors.

You can also get a private RSS feed URL for articles matching your interests and languages. Add it to your favourite RSS reader and keep reading there.

If you know a blog that belongs on Elseweb, suggest it.
