I want to be honest about something. I use AI to help me write some of the posts on this blog.
Why
I don’t make any money from this blog. Most of the posts here are just my notes. When I do something, configure something, or learn something new, I write it down so I can find it later. I make it public because maybe it can help someone else too.
The problem is that I don’t have much time for writing. I have a lot of ideas, code examples, configurations, and drafts sitting around that I would never publish if I had to write everything from scratch. Using AI, I can share what I want more often. I think it’s better than not sharing at all.
How it works
It’s not random AI-generated content. I provide my own data. My examples, configuration files, articles I read, my suggestions, thoughts, voice note transcriptions. Then I tell AI to make a blog post from all of that. The content comes from me. AI helps me put it together.
I also use AI to make the posts shorter and clearer. I don’t write novels here. I try to compress everything to be as short as possible.
The process usually looks like this:
- I give AI my raw materials and ask it to create a post
- I read the result
- I go through multiple iterations to make it better
- Before publishing, I use multiple AI tools to verify that everything is correct and error-free
For posts that are more personal, like thoughts and ideas, I write them manually first. Then AI only checks language, grammar, and spelling. I’m not a native English speaker, so that helps a lot.
I also have my own custom skills for writing blog posts. I improve them over time and try to teach AI my writing style based on my older, pre-AI posts.
How I feel about it
I have mixed feelings. It’s not 100% created by me, and that bothers me. But I control what goes into every post. I decide the topics, provide the source material, review everything, and make corrections. Nothing gets published without me reading it and approving it.
I have a lot of unfinished drafts, config files, and flow descriptions that would just sit on my disk forever. Using AI, I can turn them into something useful. It’s not perfect, but I think sharing knowledge this way is better than not sharing it.
I will mark posts to show how much AI help I used in creating them. Some posts are mostly AI-assisted, some are written by me with AI only fixing language issues. I want to be transparent about that.
